Yes!  I will come to you in the evenings and on weekends as needed.

Yes, but I charge more for the increased travel time whenever your location is more than 40km from Collingwood. For example, a location in Barrie will incur an additional charge of $85 on top of the normal hourly rate.

After our free phone or video consultation, if you decide to move forward, we’ll schedule an in-person assessment at your location. During this session, we’ll discuss your dog, your situation, and your training goals. I’ll also observe you and your dog together and provide an outline of a preliminary training plan.

Yes.  I can offer package deals depending on length and complexity of training.  My goal is to help you and your dog.

We start with an initial conversation by phone or video call, free of charge.  I learn more about the situation and your dog and offer some ideas for proceeding. It is entirely up to you to contact me after this initial screening call to proceed.

Yes. This is my specialty. I have personal experience with a fear-aggressive Catahoula and have worked with many reactive dogs. Safety always comes first, and in some cases a muzzle may be used as a helpful tool. With the right approach, things can and will improve.

Yes.  A dog biting a human being is a serious matter, but everything depends on context.  I will work with you to understand the situation, what happened and we can craft a plan together.  We need to take the situation seriously, but not overreact.  Once I understand exactly what happened, I can provide advice.

If you have been given other advice or read about techniques online, please discuss with me.  I can help you evaluate different approaches and explain clearly the reasons behind the methods I propose. 

I have experience with most dog breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments, including those with behavioural challenges or physical limitations. Every dog is unique, and I’ll tailor my approach to your situation. If necessary, I can connect you with my mentor, Sue McMullen of The Canine Academy, or other trusted trainers and veterinarians in my network—so you’ll always have the right support.

Yes, we welcome everyone and every dog, provided we can offer our services in a safe and effective manner.  Please contact us to discuss your situation and needs.

In most cases, the answers is yes for the Level 1 Basic Obedience program, but please contact us in advance to go over your situation.  A private assessment may be necessary so that we can discuss required accommodations and safety concerns.

Yes we do, but currently only on a case-by-case basis and sessions are at the introductory level. We are looking to expand this offering and we can refer you to experienced trainers.

I am not qualified to train service dogs, but it is important to know that emotional support dogs are not legally classified as service animals in Ontario in most cases. I can assess and support training for therapy work, but certification is done by 3rd parties.

First and foremost, we adapt.  We try new techniques if initial methods are not working. This assumes the client is following the training plan.  However, if Caliper Ridge cannot provide effective support we will refer you to highly specialized experts.  Our goal is to get you and your dog the support you need.
